you'll definitely come for me, right?
Elisabeth was absolutely smitten with the boy, but she did her best to conceal her feelings lest her feelings were unrequited. She pined for something more, but she was more than happy to sacrifice her desires so long as she maintained her friendship with März. She didn't particularly feel that he would feel the same way towards her; after all, she wasn't anything special. Her beauty paled in comparison to some of their other classmates - in particular, a girl with skin as white as snow, hair as black as ebony, and lips as red, and another girl with fair skin, long golden hair, and rosy pink lips - and she certainly wasn't as charming and popular as them.
She was just...Elisabeth, and that was precisely why she wouldn't ask for anything more. So long as she was by März's side, she was content. ]
phew okay let's get this rollin! c;
And he hated to think about that. He did really like her – in a way that would be something more than friendship. There was the boy with the blond hair and sparkling blue eyes with such a graceful aura in their grade, who underneath his charming smile clearly had worrying ulterior motives. He was fairly more popular than him amongst their peers, and there was something to be desired (besides his looks, he had the money; März did not). He didn't want to put a divide in their friendship if she didn't think of him like that.
When he's at her door step, he takes a shaky breath in, then exhales now adjusting his backpack on his shoulders. They were going to be studying for a test that was talked about amongst their upperclassmen – which was apparently difficult if not prepared for it. He gently raps at the wooden doorframe and now he waits in giddy anticipation for someone to greet and let him inside. ]
place your bets on how quickly this will make me cry
Guten Abend, März! I am happy to see that you made it. Please, come in.
[ She stands to the side to allow him entrance and ushers him in with a flourish of her hand. ]
i bet maybe five shiny (totally not poisonous) apples tbh als o sAME TBH
Guten abend, Elisabeth! I'm hoping that I didn't make you wait too long.
[With a nod, he heeds her words; prior to entering he rubs his shoes on the Welcome mat placed outside and then walks in. Once out of her way, he proceeds to kick off his shoes near the doorway, then placing them off to the side where some of the other shoes were. ]
Um, I brought some snacks over! Specifically cookies and macarons; I brought a variety just in case you like a certain kind.
[ And from his side does he reveal a bag that contains the sweets, and presents them to her. ]
I figured we could eat them while we studied, haha.
moiraaaa yooooo
No, you didn't make me wait at all! You were right on time, actually.
[ Her eyes widen in surprise when März presents her the bag, but it's only for a moment. Her expression softens, and she gives März a warm smile, her cheeks faintly tinted pink. She feels flattered that März would go out of his way to bring her snacks; he didn't have to, but it wasn't as if she should have expected anything less from him. He had always been a gentle, compassionate soul - one of the things that drew Elisabeth to him in the first place. ]
Ah...danke schön, März. That is very kind of you.
[ She bows her head in a sign of gratitude, then turns to where her books and other study materials are located, signaling März to follow her with a wave of her hand. ]
Right this way. I'm situated in the study.
thanatos voice: dios mono dies im s o
[ When she signals for him to follow her, he promptly follows after, rearranging the bag in his arms. Red eyes glance about the interior of her home, soaking it all in. In comparison of their current home, it was fairly lavish.
And when she begins to lead him, he follows her pace with a smile present on his lips. Walking alongside her made him happy. ]
And you're welcome, I hope your evening has been well....?
you know what we should do, we should do elef and misia next :')
[ Eventually, they arrive at the study, and Elisabeth makes her way towards a table with two chairs. One half of the table is already occupied with Elisabeth's textbook, opened to the content they were going to cover, and a notebook and pen with some notes already written on it. She has already begun reviewing for the test, it seems. Either way, it's evident which side is designated for März - opposite from her. ]
Ah, before we begin, would you like for me to put on some tea? I've heard it aids studying by improving your focus, and I think it would pair nicely with the treats you've brought.
oh my god (i'd be game tho) also alternately angst w erhard (^;
[ As they enter the study, his eyes fall upon where her materials are laid out. He makes long yet quick strides over to the chair meant for him. März is already unpacking his backpack, so when Elisabeth asks her question his head raises and he looks up toward her. ]
That would be great thank you! And absolutely, haha, I'm sure it would help them go down too...!
oh god erhard (i'm in) also bluebeard as the neighbor I'M
[ For as long as she's known März, she's always had that impression of his mother. She had always been warm and welcoming that Elisabeth preferred to spend time with his family rather than her own sometimes. ]
Very well. I'll put on a kettle, then. In the meantime, you can go ahead and start reading the chapter. I'll be right back.
[ She disappears to the kitchen to do as she said, filling an empty kettle with water before placing it on one of the stove burners. ]
HAHAH boi does have some weird neighbors (also gOOD TO KNOW WINK )
Once his school supplies are placed out, he removes the macaroons from the plastic bag and places the box of them in the middle of the table. It takes a few minutes of playing with the tape keeping the sides together, but he's finally able open the box. A different assortment of flavors sit in the box, awaiting to be eaten. With everything arranged nicely, he looks up toward to the entranceway to the kitchen and tilts his head off to the side.
...And even with everything done, März felt a little fidgetty– he hadn't sat down yet to start studying yet either. Therefore.... ]
...Is there anything you'd like me to help you with, Elisabeth?
[ And it's very likely she has everything under control, but he couldn't help but to ask her. ]
boiiiii i die! :^)
[ It's only then that she suddenly comes up with an idea. It isn't something that she needs assistance with, but her infatuation spurs her on to propose the suggestion anyways. ]
...Ah, actually, I do have something you could do, if you'd like. While we wait for the water to boil, how about you come and select the tea we drink? Our pantry has an assortment of teas, so you can choose whichever one catches your fancy or that you feel will best complement the treats. Since you were the one who brought them over, I think it's only appropriate that you get to choose what we drink.
[ Which is a lie. She's only looking for an excuse so that he can help her. ]
I shall trust your judgment, März.
lays on the ground, the slowburn angst is always what kills the man (^;
[ Absentmindedly does he fix his supplies around the table, and he takes one last look at how he's set things up for now. Once satisfied with how they're arranged, the boy smiles and he makes his way into the kitchen. Elisabeth is there, hovering over the tea kettle so his eyes begin to wander to search for the pantry. He shuffles toward it and when he's in front of it, opens up the pantry door - and he's met with a great surprise.
...There were so many choices to chose from, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to pick a suitable blend. Earl Grey may be nice, but the Ginger Lemon could be also nice. Then there was the Peach blend! Oh he's in quite the pickle - there were too many good choices. Beside the exquisite fancy teas, there was also the black tea as well. He purses his lip together while slowly going through all the options. ] ...mm, I guess the Ginger Lemon tea could be nice....[ März glances over his shoulder briefly to look at Elisabeth, then continues to survey the shelves ]. Or the Black Tea – which do you usually have with snacks, Elisabeth...?
i legit cried reading your reply this thread is ruining me already
[ The kettle begins to whistle, indicating that the water's started boiling, and Elisabeth returns her attention to it. ]
The water is ready, so once you've picked a tea, we can boil the leaves.
omg yours did too i'm just crying about what's to come ho nestly
[ He then outstretches his hands toward the other, dropping them into her palm. ]
Should...I go get some plates and napkins too ? Just tell me where I can find them and I'll bring them out!
[ He just wanted to be useful after all.]
right??? it's so happy and cute for now but wait! there's more! :^)
[ She says, without even looking back behind her. She can't help but feel flustered that März is being so insistent on helping her, but she's very happy that he is. She places the tea bags that März handed to her inside of two teacups and pours the water inside both cups, waiting for the tea to steep. While she waits, she can't help but imagine what it would be like if she had enough courage to openly confess to him, what it would be like if he returned her feelings. They're both events that she doesn't think are likely, but she can't stop entertaining the scenario of "what if" either. ]
HAHHA i can't wait man (^: tents hands
[ He smiles back toward her and he turns his back toward her again, following her instructions immediately, and he moves to open up said cabinet. März effortlessly reaches for the plates first, placing them onto the countertop and then gets the napkins too, placing a couple of them onto the plate. He then takes them into a steady hold now, and shows Elisabeth a smile. ] I'll go put these into the other room and set them up.
[ And he then shuffles out of the kitchen and back into the study, now placing the plates on the opposite sides, then the napkins in the middle. He arranges the their materials so everything is in reach for them. His eyes make a quick glance to the plastic bag that he carried both the macarons and cookies in, and he contemplates whether or not to remove the latter. After a little contemplation, he removes the tub of cookies that he also brought over onto the tab as well. He's relieved that the table's big enough to have everything spread out.
Once his task is complete, he walks back to the entrance way of the kitchen and pokes his head in to look in at Elisabeth. Watching her working with fixing the tea makes the boy smile warmly, oh he was going to miss her when they had to move. Melancholic thoughts make their way to him: she'll be okay when I'm gone, Elisabeth is always okay – she's relatively good with their other classmates...she–– no stop, he had to stop thinking so negatively. They'd see each other again someday right? He surely hoped so. ]
Everything's set up out here. [ He says with a sing song voice, the smile from before still present on his lips. He's secretly wondering when would be the best time, perhaps... after is said and done tonight ––? That way he wouldn't distract Elisabeth too much with his current situation. ]
i can't wait until märz loses his memory :^) also ten years later i finally reply
[ Elisabeth prepares a tray to place both tea cups on, along with other commodities, such as milk and sugar, and carries it out into the study where März has prepared everything. She then sets März's teacup next to his plate, and then her own, before placing the jar of milk and sugar in the middle next to the napkins. She then briefly retreats back into the kitchen to rest the tray on the countertop before returning to the study and taking her seat. ]
I wasn't certain how you take your tea, so I hope this will do.
ME TOO SO THEN HE can become a snarky jerk (^;
Oh, silly me I forgot something, whoops. [ How else would he stir his tea ? He takes a moment to stand, shuffling to the kitchen briefly and coming back with spoons he spotted when looking for things earlier. And März takes his seat, placing two spoons out onto each napkin and taking one and using it to stir his tea together.
Once his tea's been stirred, he brings the cup by the handle and brings it to his lips, softly blowing at the steam to cool it down. And he then takes a moment to sip, and letting the warm liquid go down his throat. With a hum of approval, he places the teacup down now. ]
Mmmm...the tea's good, yes!!! Feel free to take any of the cookies or macarons I've brought along –– unless you're not hungry right now haha. [ Yes, März – stalling studying time is the way to go. There were a different array of the macarons, with different flavors too. He briefly eyes at his binder and notes, with an internal groan at what they needed to painstakingly go through.]
it's gonna be so perfect :^)
[ She reaches forward and takes one of the macarons, nibbling on it as a means of a distraction. Honestly, a part of her wants so strongly to tell März how she feels about him, and she figures she may as well tell him today; after all, she's been harboring these feelings for so long, but...how? When...? Now wasn't the appropriate time to tell him, was it? Not when they had an exam looming over both of their heads. After the exam...? But then, she would only be putting it off, and the more she continued to push it back, the more reluctant she would be to tell him.
...No, she had to tell him today. Today was Friday, so if she told him and he didn't return her feelings, she would at least have the weekend to recover. He could just forget about it over the weekend as well, and they could return to normal on Monday...at least as close to normal as one could get with a rejected confession. That's why she clears her throat, looking sheepish. ]
...Ah, M-März? May I, um...may I tell you something...?
yepp!!! (^; here we go!
Huh, tell me something...? [ He blinks, then flashes her a smile.] Sure, go ahead...!!
no subject
[ She hesitates, uncertain on whether or not she should continue. She has his attention, so now would be the optimal time to tell him, but...she's just so nervous. Seeing him look at her with that innocent gaze breaks her resolve, and she can't bring herself to look at him if she's truly going to go through with it. That's why she shifts her gaze, looking down at her notebook instead, pretending that she's found something interesting worth reading just so she doesn't have to look at him while she confesses. It's rude, she knows, but...she simply can't bear seeing his response if he didn't feel the same. ]
I...have something I wish to confess to you. I am afraid I haven't been entirely honest with you, and because you...are so dear to me, I wish to rectify that. Therefore, März, I wanted to tell you that I...
[ What should she say? Like? No, he'd only misconstrue her words, and it would be understating the extent of her feelings for him. Love? Well, she did love him; she could honestly say her heart belonged to him and no other, but that would be coming off strong, wouldn't it? Ugh, how frustrating! What should she say...?!
...Well, actions spoke louder than words, did it not? Therefore, without even taking the time to register what she was doing, she rises up, leans over the table just enough to reach him, and...brushes her lips gently against his. ]
no subject
[ He blinks while she struggles to find the words to continue, his hand now placing the page down now. He holds his breath in giddy anticipation while Elisabeth considers her words carefully. Reading into the atmosphere, this seemed quite important –– ? Elisabeth looked nervous, which makes him worried. Did something happen? Ah..when she continues to go on, he feel his palms begin to sweat.
Her nervousness makes him nervous too.
But when Elisabeth stands, he moves his hands from the table and onto his lap. März too begins to stand, however he remains frozen in place. What was she going to do? Watching her lean forward, he then watches her carefully, with breath held in. When she brushes her lips against him, heat rises in his cheeks and he becomes a flustered mess. He probably looks redder due to his pale skin and it's more visible. This could only mean one thing, and yet he didn't want to jump to conclusion. ]
You...[ They're barely touching, so he whispers this to her - as if not wishing for anyone else to hear this. ] You too, huh? [ A shy smile appears on his lips and he takes a moment to breath. However, this makes his chest twist and turn, making this even harder to Elisabeth of the truth that's to come within the next few months. He commends her bravery, in spite of her nervousness which is why he places a gentle kiss onto her lips and then pulls away.]
I....I love you too, Elisabeth, in...that way.
[He pauses briefly, in turmoil of breaking the news to her now or not. Ah, God.]
I'm sorry, was....is...that too forward?
let us just pretend that this icon is not younger elisabeth shhh
...He kisses her back, and she could do nothing but stand there, awestruck, when he pulls back. She raises a hand to touch her lips, the tingling sensation of his on hers still lingering as if he hadn't pulled away at all. Elisabeth remains like that, entirely shell-shocked, her mind still processing what had just happened moments ago. Everything had happened so quickly that it all feels surreal, like she's entered some other plane of existence. It's the boy's words that finally ground her, drawing her back to reality.
"I love you, too, Elisabeth," she hears him say, and those words are just so...astonishing that she can't fully believe them just yet; not that it's any fault of März, for she knows the boy wouldn't lie - and most importantly, not about something as serious as this - but...she's just so incredulous. ] A-All this time, I-- I thought...
[ She thought that he would like someone else, someone who simply wasn't...her. There was nothing particularly outstanding about her; she was liked, she supposed, but not nearly as much as the ones in their class that everyone adored. Everyone had admired (as well as envied) the "prince," as they dubbed him, and his two "princesses." The boys in their class wanted nothing more than to be able to date the two maidens, whose beauty far surpassed that of Elisabeth's. She was average, at best, but then again, she had never had much of a strong self-esteem to begin with. She was quiet and reserved, and a tad awkward; some whose advances she'd reject would also describe her as "prudish"; sometimes a little sickly, having been born with a weak constitution that left her susceptible to most illnesses; and far too obstinate for her own good.
And that didn't even begin to account for what her brother thought of her most of the time.
Elisabeth slowly sinks into her chair, her vision beginning to cloud as tears well in her eyes. Try as she might to wipe them away, they continue to pour down her face like rain. ] I-I...never would have imagined that you... [ Her breath shudders, as if she's still in disbelief over what she'd just heard, which isn't exactly incorrect. She's still trying to wrap her head around this, but she knows that she's happy. She's so happy that her heart is swelling with joy inside her chest. ] That you would...love me in return, März.
[ If he had rejected her, even though it would have hurt beyond belief, she would have bore that pain for him. That was how much she loved him - so much that she could withstand anything. Her heart completely belonged to him that...circumstances demanding, she feels as though she could even die for him. She would rather die than betray him. But she doesn't have to worry about that because
this isn't the universe where she dies a saintMärz returns her feelings. She sniffs and gives him a teary smile, wiping at her eyes once again. She's certain she looks like a mess with how hard she's been crying, but... ]
Ah...März, I'm so happy... [ Oh right, she didn't answer his question. ] N-No! No, that wasn't too forward at all...I'm honestly relieved to hear you feel the same way. I thought you would reject me for sure...
tHIS IS FINE HAHAHHA GOSH also im dying rn
...He felt so happy, and yet so melancholic about this revelation as well. That meant he'd relieved her of her own doubts and break her own heart in the same night. While staring at her, his brows knit up and then he realizes that he has something handy on him. When she sits down, he mirrors her, sitting slowly down back into his seat in the study. He'd never think she'd love him, he's pretty average – not athletic and doesn't do anything too special. His looks aren't too special either, white hair and red eyes – who would ever love someone who looked so sickly? He was undesirable, and he'd never want to pass off whatever was apart of him onto his child. He would have been comfortable with being able to watch Elisabeth with someone more healthier, perhaps even far better off too. They weren't rich either, pretty average in that way too. Having her all to himself seemed selfish
and if things occurred like in the Neinth Reality, he'd regret these actionsbut now, with her consent she'd allow it..März reaches into his back pocket for a handkerchief that he often had handy, then offers it across the table toward Elisabeth now. ] I thought the same, ah, but...please use this to dry your tears.
[ He briefly adverts his gaze from her. ] In all honesty, I've been wanting to confess the same, but...I could never work up the courage to. [ His red eyes return, meeting again with her own pair now.] I guess you're far more courageous than me? Hahah.
[ He's a little taken aback by her words, which causes for the other to shake his head. ] ...Reject you? Of course I wouldn't, that's...I would never. I'm so happy to know this too Elisabeth. [ He swallows uncomfortably now, it was now or never. And despite this distance that will come between them, he knows he will come for her again. She doesn't have to worry
that he'll die and come back as some emo undead manbecause of the wonders of technology, they'll still be able to interact.]E-Elisabeth, I...[ His smile slowly turns into a frown, with brows furrowed downward. Looks like their studying is long forgotten. ] also have something to confess...
[ He lapses into a silence, gently breathing now and trying to figure out how to tell her this. It'll crush her for sure, and he'd never want to hurt Elisabeth. He never wanted to intentionally hurt her, especially with how happy and relieved she looks now. The way her green eyes shine as she looks at him, the smile that's been drawn out. The way she beams up toward him, he can see the happiness practically brimming from her. He had to spit it out, now or never, because he'd never want to disappear one day – and one up her, to make her to continue to wait.
Just as like she confessed to him, he confesses to her now, with sadness seen in his eyes. The tears begin to pool in the corners of his eyes, but he's trying to keep himself calm and collected like usual. But even telling himself that everything is going to be alright would be a lie right? It'd would be kind of dramatic, kind of like how that "prince" of their class and his "princesses" acted. But if Elisabeth can work up the courage to tell him, then he could inform her of the truth at least. ]
I...I had wanted to tell you later, but it would be unfair to you. Mother and I will be moving a few towns over after this school year ends, because of how expensive it is to live here. [Breathe, breathe, he has to remember to, and he continues to look at her face. ] So we...I won't be attending the same school year. H-However, we....we can still keep in contact with each other in other ways though...!!
[ His tears begin to drip down his cheeks while saying this. ]
THIS :^) IS :^) FINE :^)
N-No...März, you can't... [ Why...? Why did he have to leave? She had just confessed to him, and he returned her feelings, so why...? Ah, how cruel fate was. Elisabeth's eyes well with tears again, but it's evident that this time, they're from sadness. ] Bitte. I...I don't want you to go. I don't want to say goodbye so soon...
[ Of course, she knows it's not ultimately his decision; if he could stay, she's certain he would choose to, but she can't stop herself from making the desperate plea anyways. ]
I-If it's money that you and your mother need, then...I-I can try and help somehow. I'll ask my brother for assistance, o-or I'll find some other way, but...please, März, don't go. Don't... [ She breaks into a sob, shaking her head. ] T-To be without you, I can't stand the thought...
takes 6783 yrs, bUT YES THIS IS FINE (^:
[ It looks like their materials have been forgotten. He tries to get a grip on his emotions, but it takes some time. Although it's off his chest, he can't help but feel guilt for causing Elisabeth such despair. ] I'll never be gone if you keep me close to your heart, Elisabeth. [He says this softly, now standing from his side of the table and he walks over to her seat. While she sobs, the boy takes the blond into an embrace, holding her close to him. ]
It won't be for forever, I....o-once I get a job of my own and a license and a car, I'll make an effort to come visit. W--We can ma-make this work still, even if we won't see one another every single day. [ He pulls back from their embrace, then takes a moment to wipe away her tears. He then parts her bangs with his hand and places a soft kiss there. His gaze then returns back to her now, and he offers her a smile. ] Ju....just remember Elisabeth, I love you–– and always will.
MAR HOW DARE YOU ATTACK ME LIKE THIS???
It's safe and warm being in März's arms, but knowing that their time together is fleeting only makes it bittersweet...yet, a part of her is comforted by März's words. So long as she kept him close to her heart, he'd never truly be gone...? And he even promised that he would come and visit her one day. Then, that reassurance would be to comfort her in her days of waiting for him. She sniffles as he wipes away her tears and presses a kiss to her forehead. ] I-I...I shall always keep you in my heart, März. Until the day you return for me...I will never forget you.
[ She offers him a smile in return, but it's a little shaky as she tries to pull herself together. ]
I love you, too. My heart shall never belong to anyone but you, I assure you. [ And she knows deep down that this is true. So long as she's alive, she will never love anyone but him. No matter what her Id tells her or how it tries to sway her otherwise, she knows that it will never shake her love for März. Now that that's settled, Elisabeth takes a moment to wipe away any remaining tears März may have missed and glances towards their studying materials.
Honestly, she's made herself spent by crying that she doesn't even feel like studying anymore, and now that she knows März is going to be leaving at the end of the school term, all she wants to do now is spend whatever little time they have left as a couple. ] ...I do have one final, selfish request I'd like to ask of you, März. [ Her expression goes a little sheepish, as if what she wants to ask is somehow more embarrassing than having bawled in front of him moments prior. ] If you do not mind, do you think you could...hold me again? Could we stay like that for the rest of the day...? I would like nothing more than to just be in your arms.
