i wanna be like other girls ( for
dontlosehope )
[ Hope's Peak Academy was no ordinary high school; it did not require its students to attend classes or even to take standard term exams, but this did not deter Sonia Nevermind from having her ideal school life per her Japanese dramas. Even though it was not mandatory, it did not stop her from regularly attending classes and taking notes and especially waiting for that typical romantic encounter with her cool upperclassman where she would bump into him and fall, and they would lock eyes while he extends his hand and asks if she's okay, and--
...Well, it hadn't happened yet, but she was certain that "heart-thumping romance" would happen sooner or later, just like in her dramas.
In the meantime, she was perfectly complacent with living the normal school life - or as normal as it could be, given the school she attended. There were a lot of colorful characters in their class, but there was one person who was far more normal than the rest: Makoto Naegi. Indeed, there was nothing about him that stood out whatsoever...but that was exactly what made him stand out, in Sonia's opinion! It was also what made her decide that she would hang out with him. What better way to live a "normal" life than spending time with someone who was normal...?
That is why she asked (well, commanded is more accurate) him to meet with her after school and "hang out," and so she waits near the entrance gates of the school for him to arrive. When he finally does, however, Sonia doesn't look pleased to see him; in fact, she looks...angry, a scowl marring her features. She storms up to him, her voice scolding as she says: ]
Makoto Naegi-san, you are late for our meeting!
[ ...He's not, actually, but he didn't arrive thirteen minutes early, which means "late" in Novoselic speak. ]
Ooh, this insolence...it truly has rustled my jimmies!

No matter how often Makoto sees her in class, or talks to her, he continually tries to be even more polite to her than he is normally. Perhaps he can't see past the 'princess' title, but... who could, if they don't know her very well? After all, it's drilled into anyone's head when they're young that royalty is to be respected above all else, because they were raised to become what they are. They're groomed for the status and command that respect on their own.
As he makes his way to meet her, and is immediately scolded by her... he tenses up a little. It's both not good to make a lady wait, and not good to anger royalty.]
A-Ah, sorry, Sonia-san... I was sure I was on time.
[He was almost positive, actually... but he's not going to check his watch. If she says he's late, he's probably late. Maybe he was a minute late and that's unacceptable to her.
He blinks a couple of times at the 'rustling jimmies' part, but doesn't respond to that.]
I didn't mean to show up late at all.

[ "Just this once," implying that she truly expects him to arrive thirteen minutes early from now on...of course, she's not going to be helpful and actually tell him that. It's just something she expects him to know, as if her country's customs were everyday knowledge. Nonetheless, her anger seems to dissipate as she smiles, her eyes now sparkling with excitement. ]
Now, where is it that we are going to hang out? Are we going to go to the mall and do the famed shopping spree? Or perhaps even a cafe so that we can share a parfait? Or will we be taking the classic route and go to your house, Naegi-san? I have never had the opportunity to do any of those things before, so I am feeling hella stoked right now!

Her suggestions seem... between one thing that he knows girls tend to do, and two things that seem more like a date than a hang-out. But knowing that she's from another land entirely... maybe she's not used to the things they did normally here in Japan. But he already knows what the best option is, here.]
Well... is there one of those you'd like to do more than the others? [... Perhaps he should mark the cafe off the list to avoid himself getting a little awkward with the parfait-sharing. But no, he could deal - she was nice and he didn't want to upset her over that, either.] I'm honestly fine with any of those things.
[If not, he would need to pick one.]

[ Despite saying that, she'll take the time to mull over her options and see if she can choose one. While she was in Novoselic, she never had the chance to purchase her own clothing, so shopping was very high on her list. However, she had often seen scenes where a couple would share a parfait, and even though she and Naegi were not a couple, it was still something she wished to experience just once. And she had never set foot inside a commoner's house before and did ordinary things, so how could she not choose that either...? ]
Um...is it truly not possible that we can do all three?

So, he nods in response to her final question.]
Sure, we can do all three. [There's plenty of time left in the day, after all.] I guess it'd be best to do the mall first, then?
no subject
Then, let us make haste!

You've never gone to a mall before, Sonia-san? Or just haven't been able to go on a shopping spree?
no subject
[ ...Wait, that doesn't answer his question. ]
...That is to say, I have never been in a mall before. I also do not have any acquaintances with whom I could've gone, anyways.

Well, I know you'll like it. There'll be a lot of stores... speaking of which, what're you looking forward to buying the most? At least, what you know would be at a mall.
no subject
[ She didn't actually put any thought into what she wanted to purchase; all she knew was that she wanted to visit the mall, but she supposes one cannot shop without an item in mind. ]
I suppose...a new dress would suffice. I have some that I carried over with me from my kingdom, but I've yet to purchase one here in Japan.
itt arc doesn't know what would be in a Japanese mall
You should definitely visit the candy store, too. They've got a lot of stuff in there. Oh, and the game store. And the food court!

I see! Then, I shall heed your suggestion and visit those places as well!
